Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
Summary: The Non-Physician Provider (NPP) is considered part of the professional provider staff. The NPP will hold the degree and certification of a Physician’s Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. The NPP provides patient care under the supervision of GGU-Berkeley doctors in a team environment. The following duties will be included in the functions of the NPP:
Provides patient care in the office, including patient assessment, review of systems, history and physical, evaluating and ordering diagnostic testing, considering and prescribing appropriate medications, and recommending follow-up care and subsequent visits.
Solicits opinions and obtains counsel of GGU-Berkeley physicians for the care of patients, to schedule surgical procedures, for questions about alternate courses of treatment, handling complicated cases, and in cases where patients have adverse reactions or unexpected complications.
Counsels patients regarding preventative care, therapeutic options, the risks and benefits of recommended testing and medications, and other psychosocial needs.
Assists GGU-Berkeley physicians with pre-surgical patient evaluation, education, and preparation as well as post-surgical patient follow-up.
Reviews results from patient tests, urgently respond to critical values, communicates results to patients and GGU-Berkeley physicians, and orders follow-up testing as appropriate.
Assists physicians during office hours.
Documents clearly in patients’ charts all findings, orders, medications prescribed, and plan for follow-up.
Assists GGU-Berkeley physicians in communicating patient encounters to referring physicians and other practitioners, including the results of patients’ evaluations, recommended courses of treatment, and follow-up care.
Assists GGU-Berkeley physicians in referring patients to other, non-urologic physicians or other healthcare providers as needed.
NPP will record all patient interactions and services delivered for billing purposes including lab tests, urinalysis, procedures, evaluation and management services, appropriate diagnosis codes, medications administered and medical supplies given.
Interacts professionally and courteously with all office staff, and fosters a team-oriented atmosphere.
Utilizes computer systems to promote efficiency. Identifies opportunities for process improvement.
Remains current in reviewing urological literature, attends continuing education courses and related meetings.
Performs other related duties as needed or assigned.
Preferable urologic experience, but willing to speak with a motivated and interested individual!
Additional Salary Information: + incentive bonus to be determined
The Berkeley practice is comprised of 5 Urologists and has served the East Bay community since 1954 providing both adult and pediatric urological care.
