Degree: Graduation from a Physician Assistant educational program, accredited by the Accreditation Review Committee on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessors, at a college, university, or educational institution that is accredited by an accrediting body or organization recognized by the Secretary, U.S. Department of Education.
Licensure/Certification: This position requires successful completion of the National Commission of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) examination; must maintain status as a certified physician assistant, including completion of all requirements for continuing medical education (CME) and re-certification.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience as a certified physician assistant which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: performing routine and comprehensive physical examinations for patients of all ages as well as, reviewing medical history, prescribing medications, interpreting radiographs and lab results, and/or diagnosing medical conditions.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

As a Physician Assistant, you will:
•Serve as a subject matter expert on the development of pain management treatment plans. •Serve as a subspecialist consultant to other departments, services, and health-care providers for a variety of diseases and conditions marked by acute and chronic pain. •Perform comprehensive and problem focused histories and physical examinations. •Examines, diagnoses, and treats walk-in and clinic appointment patients with orthopedic illnesses and injuries. •Will also serve as a liaison with case managers and other representatives of the many groups caring for Warriors in Transition.
