The Stead Family Department of Pediatrics is seeking a medical geneticist. The successful candidate will participate as an attending physician in general genetic patient care as well as various genetic specialty clinics. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to develop a research program in basic or translational research. These positions are at the level of Associate (non-track), Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor (tenure or clinical track).
Requirements: MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent Board certified or eligible in clinical genetics, or equivalent Tenure track appointment requires evidence of scholarly productivity Commitment to diversity in the work place License or eligible for licensure in the State of Iowa
Desirable qualifications: Clinical experience in medical genetics Board certified or board eligible in Biochemical Genetics Board certified or board eligible in Clinical Molecular Genetics Experience in patient-oriented research Teaching competence in pediatrics for medical students and residents Evidence of scholarly activity Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

The ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program at the Children’s Hospital trains 43 pediatric residents.
The Stead Family Department of Pediatrics comprises the medical and research staff of UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital. University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital is one of the nation’s top-ranked pediatric care and research institutions. It is the only university-affiliated hospital in Iowa devoted solely to the care of infants, children, adolescents and young adults, and is Iowa’s only accredited Level 1 Regional Resource Pediatric Trauma Center. In 2016-17 University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital ranked in eight pediatric specialties in the Best Children’s Hospitals U.S. News and World Report, including cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, neonatology, nephrology, orthopedics, pulmonology, and urology, and is the only hospital in Iowa to be nationally ranked by U.S. News and World Report for children’s care. A new 189-bed children’s hospital opened in February 2017.
