The Department Secretary is responsible for performing receptionist, secretarial and clerical duties in the Surgical Inpatient Services department at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. Exercises independent judgment, professionalism and discretion in such responsibilities as receiving phone calls and visitors, maintaining confidential files and record systems, preparation of regular memos, reports, and routine correspondence. May support more than one manager while prioritizing workflow.
Minimum Requirements: * 1+ years of clerical or secretarial experience. * Exceptional typing skills with a minimum of 60+ words per minute. * Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment including Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher and PowerPoint. * Knowledge of specialized systems (MeetingTrak, CEO Scheduler, Intranet Calendar schedule) is preferred. * Working knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. * Able to work without direct supervision. * An Associate's degree is preferred or demonstrated attendance at college-level courses in secretarial or business. * A current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) certification is required.
