The Interpreter is responsible for providing interpreting services for complex situations for a variety of patient care settings and business needs, outpatient centers, and the Emergency Department's non-English speaking patients and their families, in the Interpreter Services department at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center/Miller Children's & Women's Hospital Long Beach. These activities will include interpreting in life threatening and psychosocial situations for physicians, nurses, and support staff whenever the need arises. The Interpreter must be able to communicate fluently in the specified language (e.g., Spanish); both reading and writing will be required for this position. The Interpreter must be able to provide interpreting services remotely using video conferencing technology and provide troubleshooting assistance to providers as needed.
Certificate (or above) in Translation/Interpretation Studies is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
CCHI/NBCMI certification is preferred.
1+ years of experience.
Microsoft Office Suite and Windows 7+ experience.
Fluent in specified non-English language-must pass internal language proficiency and interpretation skill evaluation.
