Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children part of Orlando Health, a $3.2 billion not-for-profit healthcare organization with more than 2,500 beds serving Central Florida and beyond, seeks a senior rank physician in pediatric hematology/oncology as the new Division Chief of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Reporting to Orlando Health Medical Group’s President, Dr. Sunil Desai, the new Division Chief will be expected to manage resources and foster an atmosphere conducive to faculty development, education, and clinical productivity and to provide outstanding clinical care for the patients we serve. The Division Chief will also be responsible for programmatic growth within the division as well as building the regional and national reputation of the pediatric Hematology/Oncology program. Position Responsibility Overview - Oversee and allocate clinical duties to relevant clinical staff to provide outstanding medical care to hematology, oncology and neuro-oncology patients. Standard responsibilities include: (a) Determining coverage of clinical care commensurate with clinical FTE on both the inpatient unit as well as outpatient clinic locations (including satellites); (b) Assigning coverage of weekend and evening call responsibilities; (c) Ensuring outstanding medical care provided to patients and families in a family-centered manner.
- Foster a positive learning environment for Division members, pediatric residents, and other learners in the Division, promoting excellence in education within and beyond the Division. Substantial prior experience assisting and mentoring junior Division members in identifying areas of scholarly focus and facilitating research is essential.
- Foster an atmosphere within the Division to support clinical, translational, and health services research and also will be expected to develop and direct a comprehensive research plan for individual Division members and the Division itself.
- Inspire and support a culture of continuous quality and process improvement at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children within the Division of Hematology/Oncology.
- With significant support from Orlando Health Medical Group administrative staff and clinical providers within the Division, acquire, develop and manage the Division members and resources necessary to achieve clinical and research goals set by Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.
The Division of Hematology/Oncology includes seven physicians (two Neuro-Oncologists, one Hematologist and four Oncologists), eight Advanced Practitioners, and over 55 Registered Nurses. The Division of Hematology Oncology at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children sees approximately 10,000 patient visits annually in the practice setting.
