About Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center
Baptist MD Anderson
Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center brings together MD Anderson’s world-renowned cancer expertise and Baptist Health’s comprehensive health system to create an unprecedented range of options for adult cancer patients in our region. We use the same protocols and practice standards that have established MD Anderson as one of America’s leading cancer care providers.
Our Approach to Care
Patient care is most effective when it is truly collaborative. Our evidence-based, multidisciplinary approach brings together physicians from all cancer specialties to provide highly coordinated and caring patient care.
Our cancer experts include medical oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists, physician specialists, nurses and clinical support staff. Clinical nurse navigators work closely with patients, guiding them through their first visit and serving as a single point of contact throughout their care.
Typically, patients with a cancer diagnosis could be referred to several specialists for tests and consultations before a care plan is created. At Baptist MD Anderson, you will meet with your team of doctors and support staff in one location, reducing the need t...o travel to several facilities and ensuring communication between all of your caregivers. The team then develops and implements your care plan together with you and keeps you informed throughout your journey.
At Baptist MD Anderson, we believe in treating cancer holistically. We treat not only the disease, but provide a full range of support services to help you:
Cope with the psychological, physical and social challenges related to a cancer diagnosis
Understand the nutritional side effects or concerns before, during and after treatment
Recover from the physical effects of cancer and its treatment
Provide spiritual or religious needs during your treatment
Learn about hereditary cancer syndromes and cancer predisposition
Through critical transitions from diagnosis, treatment and beyond
Estimate out of pocket expense and understand billing and insurance
Cancer Types & Clinics
Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center is organized as ten cancer clinics, each treating specific cancer types. As a patient, you will have a multidisciplinary team of physicians and clinicians who are experts in your specific type of cancer and your treatment options. The team will create and implement a treatment plan designed specifically for you. To make sure all your individual needs are met, you will be assigned your own oncology nurse navigator, who will educate you about your cancer, coordinate your appointments and will be here for you and your family every step along the way.
