Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Division of Urology is seeking to expand its faculty with a fellowship trained reconstructive urologist. Candidates will need to have an interest and ability to develop urologic care for genitourinary trauma and genitourinary reconstruction for female, male, and transgender patients. The candidate must be comfortable with managing complex genitourinary trauma, urethroplasties, bladder augmentation and urinary diversion, surgical treatment of Peyronies disease, and penile prosthesis. Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital is the primary teaching hospital for Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical school and the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Our division anticipates a large volume of growth in GURS as:
RWJUH is a level 1 trauma center with a high volume of trauma cases
RWJUH has a robust plastic surgery program with Rutgers faculty who are already performing some gender affirming surgery (“top surgery”) and need a specialist in genitourinary reconstruction to perform “bottom surgery”
Our pediatric urology volume is increasing significantly and there is opportunity to build a transitional urology program
There is a large volume of untreated urethral strictures with few GURS surgeons in the area
RWJUH has a robust robotic program with Xi, X, and SP robot and expertise in upper tract reconstruction (with senior faculty eager to mentor)
Rutgers Cancer institute of New Jersey has an expanding faculty with increasing volume resulting in increased cancer survivorship needs (post prostatectomy and cystectomy treatment of incontinence and ED)
