The New Mexico VA Health Care System (NMVAHCS), is a leader in the provision of rural health care, opening its first VA-staffed community based outpatient clinic (CBOC) in Farmington, New Mexico, followed by clinics in Artesia, Gallup, Raton, Silver City, Rio Rancho and Santa Fe. In recent years, the NMVAHCS has contracted with Valor Healthcare, Primary Care Solutions and Ben Archer Health Center to provide Veterans access to clinics throughout New Mexico and southwest Colorado. The NMVAHCS, Surgical Service is seeking a full-time Physician (Robotic Urology Surgeon) to provide the most effective and up to date delivery of Urological care throughout the medical center in compliance with VA and VHA Directives, the American Urological Association standards/guidelines, and The Joint Commission accreditation standards. Our busy outpatient clinics as well as the Operating Room are capable of most urological procedures. The candidate should be able to provide a variety of Urological services including pre-operative patient assessment, exam and management and perform most all aspects of Adult Urological Surgery. Special consideration will be given to those candidates with Robotic, Urologic Oncology and prosthetic surgical skills. The candidate should be able to provide urology-related direct patient care in all functional areas of the OR, ICU/critical care, ward, and clinic settings as needed, to include on-call coverage. The candidate may also be involved in program planning, objectives, policies, and standards essential to delivery of quality Urological care. Duties include, but are not limited to: Participate in and or manage all aspects of a general urology program, to include clinical, administrative, academic and research components if warranted. Manage patient workload within available staffing. Document progress notes and consultation findings in an electronic medical record, dictation and electronics signature of OP reports and hospital discharge summaries. Provide surgical treatment for genitourinary injuries and diseases including major and minor procedures.
